Some people have charts where the planets are spread out fairly evenly across the zodiac — a little here, a little there, a kind of democratic dispersal of energy. And some people have charts where three, four, five planets are piled into the same corner of the sky. That's a stellium. And if you have one, you've probably noticed that certain themes in your life are a bit louder than they are for most people.
The classical definition is three or more planets in the same zodiac sign. Some astrologers extend this to include the same house regardless of sign. The calculator here checks both: it looks at your natal chart and identifies any grouping of three or more core planets (Sun through Pluto) concentrated in a single sign or a single house.
The "core planets" requirement matters more than it might seem. If you only count Chiron, the North Node, and Lilith in the same sign, that's three bodies — but most traditional astrologers wouldn't call it a stellium, because those points don't carry the same kind of planetary weight. Three real planets, though? That's a different situation entirely. The energy of a sign or house becomes almost inescapable when multiple planets are stationed there.
Worth noting: you can have a sign stellium and a house stellium overlap, or they can be separate. You might have Scorpio Sun, Scorpio Mercury, and Scorpio Venus — that's a sign stellium in Scorpio — and those planets might all be in your Twelfth House, making it a house stellium too. Or you might have stelliums in different signs and houses that don't coincide. The calculator shows all of them.
People with stelliums often describe a sense that one area of life or one mode of operating is almost inescapably central to them. It's not that the other houses and signs don't exist in their chart — they do — but the stellium sign tends to be where most of the psychological mass lives.
A Scorpio stellium person, for example, might find that intensity, transformation, and hidden dynamics keep appearing as central themes regardless of what they're doing professionally or personally. They might not even identify primarily as "Scorpionic" — their Sun could be elsewhere — but the pattern keeps emerging. A Tenth House stellium works differently: the domain of career, public reputation, and visible achievement becomes a gravitational center whether the person identifies as ambitious or not.

The outer planets — Uranus, Neptune, Pluto — move slowly enough that everyone born within a few years of you shares the same sign placement. The most personally meaningful stelliums tend to be the ones that include your Sun, Moon, or faster-moving personal planets, because those are truly individual rather than generational.
